Introduction
The Pontides, the continuation of the Rhodope-Pontide
metallogenic belt extending from Romania and Bulgaria to Georgia
to northern Iran, is one of the most fertile belts in Turkey. It
hosts a variety of deposits such as porphyry, skarn, and
epithermal deposits, with VMS being the most prominent type.
These deposits are genetically related to, and are mainly hosted
by the magmatic rocks of eastern Pontides magmatic arc. There
are many high/low/intermediate sulfidation epithermal Au
deposits/prospects, VMS Cu-Au,Pb-Zn deposits, and porphyry Cu-
Mo deposits/prospects with Au.
Join us for an in-depth and comprehensive 5-day
lecture and field component tour of 8 of some of the best
deposits in one of the most active Pontide districts.
Highlights:
* 1/2 day Regional Geology Shortcourse * Murgul VMS Pb-Zn-Cu Open

Who is this for?
This tour is for junior and seasoned geologists alike who are
interested in learning more about the geology of this fantastic
area. Great also for
possible project generation geologists or staff looking for new
opportunity joint venture or takeover prospects.
Course is presented and taught in
English. There are also opportunities to discuss concepts with
Dr. Kuscu in Turkish.
Dr. Ilkay Kuscu
Is a Geology Professor at Muğla University in Muğla, TURKEY,
where all subjects are taught in English.
Dr. Kuscu is a well-renowned Turkish economic geologist.
He received his PhD degree at the Department of
Geological Engineering at Middle East (Orta Dogu) Technical
University in Ankara, Turkey. He completed a research
associateship with the Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU) at
The University of British Columbia in 2005-2007 and he is
currently the co-leader and key expert of the Eastern Turkish
Pontides in MDRU's Western Tethyan Metallogeny project.
He has extensive experience with the regional geology and
Tethyan-aged metallogenic belts of Turkey. Dr. Kuscu is very
